Thanksgiving Feast

Today we had our Thanksgiving feast. It was wonderful to be together as a class with friends and family!

We set the table...

We made traditional Thanksgiving food...
We sang Thanksgiving songs...
We were a little silly...
And then we ate!
We were so happy to have our family and friends join us!
It was such a great day in K-1! Thank you to our families who so generously made and bought items for our feast. We couldn't have done it without you and appreciate everything you've done!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Kindergarten/3rd Grade Buddy Giving Project

Dear K-1 Families,
8 years ago, in Mrs. Gigliotti's class, a parent helped start a wonderful community project. The children collected coins in a bank and then met on a Saturday morning to buy toys for Arlington children in need. The class then enjoyed lunch together at Papa Ginos. They brought the toys back to school, wrapped them, and then someone came to pick them up just before Christmas. Throughout this project the children learned many lessons. They learned that they could help a child in need at an early age, learned how to do something special to help out at home to earn coins. They also learned to work together as a class to make a difference in someone else's life!

Because the teachers and students at the Stratton school are so giving, this little project has grown! The year we have six classes teaming up to help six children have a wonderful holiday! Here's what's coming up: In a couple of weeks the children will be creating a piggy bank to take home over Thanksgiving break. The children should collect coins from home. This is not a door to door fundraiser! Have them do something special to earn the money, look in your car, look at the bottom of your purse, or the couch cushions! You do not have to fill the bank to the top and please do not worry about how much you collect. All of the money will be pooled together.

PLEASE BRING THE BANKS BACK TO K-1 ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 1ST.

Each classroom has been given a child to sponsor. There will be a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 10 gifts. If their is money leftover then the rest will go towards buying toys that we will donate to Toys for Tots. The presents will be wrapped together with their buddies and then taken to the organization in Arlington to be distributed.

Thank you for your participation and we are all looking forward to this wonderful event! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thanks,
Mrs. Nolan

From the K-1 Room Parents...

Dear K-1 families,

Thank you to all of those who have already signed up and volunteered to bring in a item or two (or even three!) for K-1's first annual Thanksgiving Feast.

There are still plenty of items we need to ensure that there is enough food for everyone. If you haven't already, please take a minute to click on the link and choose an item for your family to bring in: www.SignUpGenius.com/go/10C0A4DAEA929A6FA7-k1thanksgiving/
.

Please note that when you look at the list it may seem like many of the items have already been filled, but in most cases we are asking for more than one of the same item.
Not a chef? Not to worry, items can be homemade, store bought, or even from a box! Our one request is that all items be NUT FREE.

Feel free to direct any questions about what to bring or how to bring it to either Kate or myself. Questions about classroom allergies should be directed to Mrs. Nolan.

Thank you in advance for helping to make this a successful and fun event for our K-1 kiddos.

Thanksgiving Feast!

K-1’s Thanksgiving Feast
Friday, November 21st
1:00-2:10PM

K-1 families,
You are invited to attend our very first Thanksgiving feast! We are so excited to perform a few short songs, share what we learned about the pilgrims and Native Americans, and then eat a traditional Thanksgiving meal as a class. The celebration will begin at 1:00PM. All family and siblings are welcome.

We are asking each family to contribute to our Thanksgiving feast by bringing in an item. To ease the process our two room parents, Kate Hendy and Jen Wight, have created an online sign-up sheet:

If there is a special dish your family prepares on Thanksgiving that is not on our list, email Jen Wight and she will add it to our menu. We love to share and learn about each others' traditions!
All contributions must be nut free and if your child has allergies please bring a safe meal from home. If you have any questions regarding allergies please email me. If you are unable to attend, you may bring in your contribution with your child in the morning. We are looking forward to celebrating with you!
