Field Day!

Stratton Elementary-Field Day

Field Day will be on Friday, June 5, 2015. Each classroom is assigned to a color team. Throughout the day every classroom will compete in a variety of events such as kickball, relay races, knockout, and Minute to Win It games against the other classrooms in the same grade. There will also be several ‘just for fun’ activities like the parachute. Your child is on the BLUE team. If possible, your child could represent his/her team by wearing his/her team’s color clothing.

We are still looking for a few adult volunteers. Check out the PTO newsletter or this link if you are interested: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0e4cada823aaff2-field

Things to remember:

  • Wear sneakers
  • Wear sunscreen
  • Bring a water bottle
  • Bring a change of clothes for after the water relay races

Ocean Animals!

Today a mom from K-1 came in to do a lesson with modeling clay. Students were asked to think of an ocean animal and mold it out of clay. The clay will take about two or three weeks to dry and then we will paint them. Here are some of our creations…

Stay tuned for updates!

Wing Masters

On Tuesday we got to see a few different types of birds that live right here in Arlington! We learned some interesting facts about these birds and had a chance to ask some questions.
It was a fun morning!

Graphics Practice

Today we were working on some lowercase letters during graphics practice. We focused on lowercase w and z.
The private speech for a lowercase w is "slant down, up, down, up."
The private speech for a lowercase z is "across, slant, across." Using the private speech, take some time to practice lowercase w's and z's with your child!
