Below is a list of our kindergarten sight words.  Over the course of the school year we will learn to read and write all of them! Make sure to practice your sight words at home with your child. If you send in pictures of your kindergartner playing a sight word game, I will post them on our twitter page and on our classroom blog :)

Flash Card Games:
  • Memory: Using two sets of cards, take turns turning over two cards at a time, trying to make a match.  You must read the word correctly in order to get the match.  Continue until you have matched all the cards
  • Go Fish: using two sets of cards, pass out 10 cards and put the remaining cards in a stack, face down, on the table.  Each player looks for matches in their own set of cards and must read the word or the set goes back in the stack.  Take turns asking each other for cards to make matches until all the cards have been matched.
Other Activities:
  • Put shaving cream on the table and write sight words with your finders
  • Write words with a stick in the sand at the beach
  • Use chalk to write your sight words outside on the pavement
